Medicare Advantage Plan is a type of health insurance offered by private companies approved by Medicare. It replaces Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) but still gives you Medicare coverage. Often includes extra benefits like dental, vision, hearing, or prescription drug coverage. You usually need to use a network of doctors and hospitals. You still pay your Part B premium, and sometimes a little extra. In short, it's a bundled plan that covers what Medicare does—and more—through a private insurance company.
Medicare Supplements (also called Medigap) are extra insurance plans that help pay for costs not fully covered by Original Medicare (like deductibles, copays, and coinsurance). Original Medicare (Part A & B) covers hospital and doctor visits but doesn’t pay for everything. Medicare Supplement plans help cover the “gaps” in those costs. These plans are sold by private insurance companies. You must have Medicare Part A and Part B to buy a supplement plan. You still pay your Part B premium, plus a monthly premium for the Medigap plan.
Medigap does not cover prescription drugs – you’d need a separate Part D plan for that. It’s different from Medicare Advantage (which replaces Original Medicare). Medigap works with Original Medicare.
In short, Medigap helps reduce your out-of-pocket medical costs when you have Medicare.
Affordable health care insurance is a type of health coverage designed to help people pay for medical care without costing too much. It helps cover things like doctor visits, hospital stays, prescriptions, and preventive care. The goal is to make sure everyone, even those with lower incomes, can afford to get the care they need. In the U.S., programs like the Affordable Care Act (ACA) help by offering plans with lower costs and financial help based on your income. Affordable health insurance helps you get medical care without breaking the bank.
Dental Plans help pay for dental care like, cleanings and checkups, fillings and tooth extractions and braces or dentures. Vision Plans help pay for eye care like, eye exams, glasses or contact lenses and at times, discounts on eye surgery (like LASIK). Both plans can lower the cost of care.
